Service

We strive to be responsive to the needs of others by giving of our time, talent and money. We pray for the strength to be a light to each other and to help those in need.   We know that service to others is a hallmark of Christian living and remember the words of St. Francis of Assisi, "It is in giving that we receive."

  • Our Chimbote Mission Ambassadors keep us informed about the Diocesan Mission in Chimbote, Peru. We do two fundraisers each year for The Chimbote Foundation to help maintain a bridge of loving care between the Diocese of Pittsburgh and Peru, a Pumpkin Decorating Contest and Principal for a Day Drawing.
  • We collect canned good and non-perishable items for the St. Therese Food Pantry.   Kindergarteners make gifts bags for the Food Pantry.
  • In the Reading to Help Others program, the fourth graders found a great way to be of service. The Scholastic Book Club offered to donate100 books to a school or organization that is in desperate need of books if they would read 100 books by the end of December. They accomplished the task!
  • The United States Army National Guard at the annual Freedom Salute Ceremony at Soldiers and Sailors Hall honored us on December 10, 2006. Our school received one of two Center of Influence awards that are given to recognize groups or organizations that supported the troops while they were deployed. We were recognized because we sent supplies and wrote letters to the soldiers.
  • We collected pennies and coins for Patients with Leukemia during Catholic Schools Week.
  • Students accompany a teacher each month to help with the birthday celebrations at a local personal care home.
  • We contributed $1,163.15 to the Muscular Dystrpohy Lock-up project.
  • Christmas 2007--participation in Jamie's Dream Team's Toy Drive
  • We collected school supplies for several orphanages in Nicaragua.
